About
Called nodoguro, "black throat," for its dark mouth. Fat runs through the entire body, earning it the label "the toro of white-fleshed fish" and a very high price.

How to catch it
Fished from boats at depths of 100 to 300 meters with an electric reel and heavy sinkers, baited with strips of mackerel or firefly squid. Late autumn through spring is the best window.
