About
A slender member of the carp family with a long, projecting snout. Its mouth opens downward, it has only one pair of barbels (a common carp has two), and its dorsal fin is a short triangle, so it is easy to tell from a carp. An omnivore of sand and gravel bottoms in mid-river reaches and lakes, it turns strongly fish-eating at large sizes and can reach 70 cm.
