Smelt fishing
A short rod and tiny multi-hook rig are lowered to a school from a pier, boat or heated dome boat. Check the lake permit and season. For ice fishing, enter only areas officially opened and managed for access.

Mainly autumn to early spring; confirm each lake opening and operator status.
